Wack Wack Golf Club suspends Mar Roxas’ membership

April 26, 2014 Philippine Local News

The Wack Wack Golf and Country Club has suspended Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas’ membership for two months.

In a statement released by the management of the private club, they said Roxas violated their rules and regulations.

“Wack Wack Golf and Country Club (WWGCC), through its general manager, Francisco M. Legarda, announced the two-month suspension of proprietary member, Manuel A. Roxas II for violation of club rules and regulations. The sanction imposed on Mr. Roxas is consistent with actions taken by the club to uphold its policies to maintain good order at all times for the enjoyment of the club by its members and their dependents and guests,” the statement read.

The statement did not cite a specific incident, but earlier this month, Roxas allegedly berated a staff of the club for requiring him to pay the ”green fee” for a golf pro he invited.

Roxas had denied swearing at the employees and apologized for what he called a misunderstanding.

For his part, Roxas said he has already apologized for the “misunderstanding.”

In a statement released after news broke out about the suspension of his membership, Roxas also addressed the allegations that there had been previous similar incidents.

“I have been a member/player in Wack Wack for more than 20 year. I have had absolutely no record of misdemeanor or any inappropriate behavior in all these years at sa haba nitong panahon ni minsan wala akong nakaaway o nakagalitan. Wala sa puso ko na sirain ang magandang relasyon ko sa mga caddy, empleyado at mityembro ng Wack Wack family,” he said.
