As TV host-actress Kris Aquino’s good friend, Derek Ramsay doesn’t want to see her get hurt in matters of the heart.  That’s why he wants Kris to be choosy in love.

“I just told her to be careful. Take her time. She’s been in and out of relationships. She’s been hurt. So, as a friend, you don’t want seeing your friend get hurt. So, I just told her to be careful and be a little bit choosy. Be choosy,” Derek told the press during TV5’s media convergence at AD Summit Pilipinas 2014 in Subic on Thursday, May 8.

What does he mean by ‘being choosy’?

“Parang I really don’t wanna believe in the Maria Clara effect. But, parang ganoon (na din). Na parang pa hard to get. Just because naramdaman mo na, you (don’t just ) jump in there,” Derek explained.

No rush

He also told Kris she doesn’t need to rush when it comes to relationships.

“Take your time, be smarter. Guide your heart with your mind. Then you don’t have to rush naman. If yung tao na nangliligaw is really serious about you. Maghihintay iyon.”

It will be recalled that Kris admitted that she and Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista were dating. However, days after her revelation, Herbert reportedly stopped pursuing her. Kris then clarified that they are ‘not a couple, but best of friends.’

Derek shared that Kris “deserves somebody to love her”  and that he knows Herbert personally as well.

Wonderful person

“Basta ako, kung saan siya masaya, doon ako,” Derek said.

He added, “She’s a wonderful person. With her love life, I think she deserves to be happy. She confided to me her situation. But, I don’t think I was the first person to know. When I finally found out about it, I gave her my advice. If it comes to what I’m gonna say about their relationship, I think it should come from her.”

Derek revealed that his movie with Kris isn’t pushing through. However, he will make a movie with Marian Rivera.

“Yes, yes (we still communicate). Kris is good to me and my family. I called her to say hi. She thought I was calling because I found out na hindi tuloy ang movie. Sayang. But maybe in the future, we don’t know.”

Nice feeling

While he doesn’t have a TV5 show for now,  Derek is happy with the network. He will start working on the second season of “The Amazing Race Philippines” in June.

Does Derek feel he’s the biggest TV5 star these days?

“I don’t think I’m the biggest star in TV5. We have Ogie (Alcasid), Sharon (Cuneta) who were much bigger than me, but it’s always nice to get a reception like that, where people shout out your name, people want to take your pictures, it’s something that I will never get used to. I always get butterflies in my stomach and natutuwa ako. I don’t understand why, but it’s a nice feeling and you lose all the nervousness before coming on stage,” he replied.
