The Sarah Geronimo joke that got Robi in trouble

Robi Domingo and Rayver Cruz denied that they are at odds because  the former commented that Sarah Geronimo’s ex-boyfriend was all eyes on the singer-actress during her production number in the Sunday noontime variety show “ASAP.”

After Sarah performed “Let It Go,” Robi told Rayver during the spiel, “Pare, tutok na tutok ka sa prod na iyon ah. Ibang klase ang galing.”

Rayver replied in jest, “Gusto mo tutukan ko ang mukha mo mamaya.”

Netizens react

Some netizens disliked Robi’s comment, especially because Rayver’s other ex, Cristine Reyes was there during the said number.

But Rayver explained in an interview with “Cinema News” on Friday, May 2, that  everything was mere banter between friends.

“Hiritan lang namin iyon kasi ganoon naman talaga kami. Pero mali nga din siguro yung hirit ko kasi na-misinterpret kami ng tao. For a while kasi, nakalimutan ko na nasa camera pala kami. Maayos naman and pinapalaki lang ang issue.”

Robi echoed Rayver’s statement.

Wacky and wild

“You know me and my antics, minsan talaga, I come really wacky and wild, to the point na hindi nila maintindihan. Hindi naman si Rayver nagagalit.”

Robi agreed that the issue was just blown out of proportion.

“Nangpipikon siya and nang-aasar lang. Pero mabait si Rayver. Tawa nga kami ng tawa kasi the issue really got big. Hindi naman talaga dapat patulan iyon.”

Robi’s apology

Even if  Rayver didn’t take Robi’s comment seriously, the latter still apologized to his friend.

“Nag-sorry naman ako. I said, ‘Sorry, nabigla ako pare’. Kasi it’s something na hindi na dapat naungkat.”

As they were able to settle the issue on their own, Robi hopes people will also move on and refrain from making speculations.

“Trabaho lang and walang personalan. Miscommunication lang and lahat naman nadadaan sa magandang usapan. Let’s move on.”
