The Philippine National Police (PNP) has thrown its support behind one of its men, who is joining a male beauty pageant.
In a statement released Tuesday, PNP said Police Officer 2 Perez Flormata Jr. of the Aviation Security Group is one of the official candidates of Misters of the Philippines 2014.
PNP referred to the 29-year-old cop, who joined the pageant using the name Neil Perez, as “an epitome of the true Filipino gentleman.”
“Promoting the healthy lifestyle of the PNP personnel, PO2 Flormata serves as a model to all police officers who want to be fit and healthy while protecting our community from different crimes,” the statement read.
In his profile on the Misters of the Philippines website, Flormata said he decided to join the pageant not only to help him with his finances, but also to “show to other people that I can do more aside from being a police officer.”
Flormata is a graduate of BS Criminology at Manuel L. Quezon University Manila. He currently resides in Tondo and has been part of PNP for six years.
This year’s Misters of the Philippines pageant will be held on September 7 at the Grand Theater of the University of Makati.
According to its website, Misters of the Philippines was formed to help represent the Philippines in international male beauty pageants.
