Fans of Kathryn Bernardo- Daniel Padilla (KathNiel) and James Reid-Nadine Lustre may always pit them against each other, but James and Nadine feel flattered to be compared to the KathNiel tandem.

“It’s normal na magcompare sila, kasi love team din. It’s okay for me. Maganda siya kasi KathNiel, maganda yung reputation ng love team nila,” Nadine told reporters at the press conference of “Talk Back and You’re Dead” on Friday, August 8.

James and Nadine’s love team, which rose to fame in the hit movie “Diary ng Panget,” is back in Star Cinema’s “Talk Back and You’re Dead.”

Something right

James added, “KathNiel, they are really number one. Being compared to them, it means we are doing something right.”

Nadine chimed in, “Yung level kasi ng KathNiel, mataas na. For us to be compared to them, it’s very flattering for us. Kasi we’re only beginning.”

The new stars acknowledge that KathNiel has chemistry.

“Nakakakilig naman sila. Even my friends, who are in their teens, twenties, (kinikillig din). I was supposed to watch “She’s Dating a Gangster,” but I didn’t have time,” Nadine said.

Bashers

She admits having her share of bashers, especially those who accuse her of copying Kathryn. Some have even threaten Nadine and her family.

“Why would I be scared? I know naman na I don’t really copy her. It’s just that we have the same features lang siguro,” Nadine stated.

She doesn’t mind being always compared to Kathryn because of their physical resemblance.

Brewing romance?

“It’s not bad. It’s actually really good kasi people notice me. Kahit bashers iyan, kahit ayaw nila sa akin, at least they still know me, di ba?”

Is there a brewing romance between James and Nadine?

“We’re focused on our career, not thinking about relationships or anything. On the set, we’re really close,” James replied.

Nadine also wants to focus on her career, especially now that new opportunities are opening up for her.

Thankful and blessed

“I feel very thankful and blessed kasi sa tutuusin, maraming mas maganda at magaling sa akin, and yet, I am here, I have another movie. Tapos ang daming projects na dumadating, I feel very blessed.”

“Talk Back and You’re Dead,” directed by Andoy Ranay, also stars Joseph Marco and Yassi Pressman. It opens in cinemas on August 20.
