Jennifer Laude’s mother to PNoy: ‘Wala ka palang kwenta!’

October 30, 2014 Philippine Local News

At a forum held at the University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Law, Julita Laude—the mother of slain transgender Jennifer Laude—broke down as graphic photos of the victim were shown to the audience.

Reports say it was also the first time that Julita saw the uncensored crime scene photos.

Words of rage

In tears, Julita addressed President Noynoy Aquino, saying, “Hindi ba tumagos sa puso mo ‘yan noong nakita mo ang larawan ng anak ko? Pilipino ka rin!  Wala ka palang kwenta! Sinungaling ka!”

The President was already earlier criticized by the supporters of the Laude camp for not attending the wake of the slain transgender woman.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Sonny Coloma, however, said that Aquino did not have any intention to insult the Laude family.

The wake issue

Aquino had said that he chose not to attend Laude’s wake because he didn’t want to be a burden to the family.

He said, “In general, I don’t attend wakes of people I don’t know. I’m uncomfortable in trying to condole with people who don’t know me. It’s like how can I say that I really sympathize with their loss and have some relevant discussion with them on trying to assuage their loss at that point in time?”

Secretary to the Cabinet Jose Rene Almendras also said the President does not want to come off as fake just to earn popularity points.

But Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) group founding chairperson Dante Jimenez slammed Aquino statement for being “insulting” and “unpresidential.”

Laude was buried on October 24.
