Piolo Pascual admits son underwent DNA testing

Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual admitted he and his son Inigo underwent DNA testing when the latter was still a baby to confirm his paternity.

Piolo’s sister Chiqui Gonzalez first revealed this on  E! Special, which devoted an entire show to the actor.

“Yes (we did), pero huwag na natin pag-usapan iyon. I don’t want to build up the issue. Hindi ko nga din alam when my sister talked about it. Kasama ko anak ko noon, so I was cringing kasi hindi ko naman alam yung ilalabas sa E! He’s my own blood,” Piolo said at the press conference of Sunlife’s Sunpiology Event.

Protective dad

Piolo was reportedly 20 years old when his ex-girlfriend told him about their son.

“Matagal na iyon. Sobrang baby pa siya noon. Wala na kasi kami noon ng girlfriend ko. I don’t want people to think na because of DNA that’s why I became his father. I’ve always been his father.” 

What’s more important to him is that Inigo is his own flesh and blood.

The actor has always been protective of Inigo and doesn’t want the 17-year-old boy to work full-time in showbiz.

Studies first

Piolo wants Inigo to finish high school before venturing full-time into acting and singing. The actor also wants to spare his son from issues and intrigues.

“Once he got a taste of it, hindi na mag-aaral iyon. For me, he should prioritize his studies. Mahirap nang balikan iyon kung kumikita ka na ng pera.”

Piolo has not had a relationship for years because he promised Inigo he won’t have a girlfriend until he (Inigo) turns 18.

Mum on KC Concepcion

“I broke his heart (before) because I promised (not to have a girlfriend) and did it. So sabi ko, ‘until you turn 18, that’s the only time I’ll get into a relationship.’ I’m keeping my word. Whoever I choose, nasa akin na iyon.”

Piolo also talked briefly about former girlfriend KC Concepcion on E! Special.

“Either way she was gonna come out with it. I felt bad for her because she didn’t have to resort to that. It’s something she did that I wish she didn’t do,” Piolo commented on KC’s TV interview about their split.

He refused to talk further about KC.

Fun run

“Huwag na natin palakihin iyon kasi two years (ago) na iyon. As much as possible, I don’t wanna talk about it.” 

Besides “Hawak-Kamay,” Piolo is promoting the Sunpiology Fun Run set on November 15 in Bonifacio Global City.

“After the run, there’s going to be a show by Star Magic artists,” he said.
