Daniel Padilla reacts to bashers and KathNiel fans; ‘Masyado silang nagmamarunong’

December 22, 2014 Showbiz News

Daniel Padilla is paying the price of success. And you can’t help but feel it when he heaves a deep sigh.

“Kahapon, nalungkot ako,” he admits before a handful of press people who met him before the press preview of the Padillas’ Metro Filmfest entry “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo.”

Reason: bashers, his and love team Kathryn Bernardo’s fans , have criticized his father, Rommel Padilla, for saying that if he were to advise his son, he’d tell the actor to prioritize his career over everything else. KathNiel (Kathryn and Daniel) fans obviously took this to mean that Rommel frowns on Kathryn as Daniel’s love team and rumored girlfriend.

‘Nalulungkot ako’

“Nalulungkot ako. Masyado silang nagmamarunong. Hindi nila binibigyang masyadong importansya ang mga kailangang pansinin. Ito ba ng mga kabataan ngayon? Bakit ganito ang nangyayari? Parang sila ang nagpapakain sa amin.”

The Teen King explains that he only wants to make fans happy.

“Pero parang gumulo.”

The sadder part, Daniel adds, is that he is not the only one affected.

“Ang daming naaapektuhan. Ang daming nadamay. Kung ako, walang problema sa akin. Kayang kaya ko. Mahirap talaga. Hindi ko na nga binubuksan ang Twitter ko per kailangan kasi yon ang contact namin sa supporters namin.”

Daniel tried to talk to his fans. But he failed to stop the bashing.

“Kahit anong sabihin ko, wala rin. Ilang beses ko na silang sinabihan, yung mga supporters ko na 5 years na sila nandon hanggang ngayon. Marami nang magulo. Pati ako ang gulo. (Sinabi ko na ) huwag na silang sumali at nagkakaproblema ang lahat ng bagay. Sabi ko huwag na lang nila pansinin. Magkaroon na lang sila ng sariling mundo. Maging suplado na lang tayo para walang masabi.”

Family support

Daniel seeks comfort and advice from his family – his dad Rommel and uncle Robin  Padilla, who help the young actor cope with critics.

“Bata akong nakikinig pa rin. Ayaw kong magmarunong sa dapat kong gawin.”

Daniel knows his dad’s advice is borne of experience. That’s because Robin’s older brother has been there, done that. Rommel admits he forgot what’s important in life because he succumbed to uh, earthly temptations.

Rommel wants to make it clear that he always held Kathryn in high esteem. He first saw her in the 2012 teen drama “Princess and I” and liked what he saw.

Daniel, for his part, admits Kathryn has helped him a lot.

Total departure

“Kung wala si Kathryn, wala ako. Kaya malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa kanya.”

The actress is proud of Daniel’s latest film and supports him in his role as a student who discovers Bonifacio with the help of his friends.

Daniel’s role is a total departure from his romantic, feel-good movies.

“Hindi ito pa-cute at dagdag kilig. Punong puno ng kaalaman. Hindi lang palabas para matuwa at makakita ng artista. Para ito sa bansa natin. Para sa future naming mga kabataan.”

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” also stars Eddie Garcia, Vina Morales, Jasmine Curtis, Isabel Oli, Cholo Barretto, RJ Padilla and others. It opens in theaters nationwide on December 25, Christmas day.
