Potential cyclone to enter PH on Thursday

January 13, 2015 Philippine Local News

A potential cyclone spotted off Visayas is forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday, January 15.

PAGASA weather forecaster Buddy Javier said that the low pressure area (LPA) spotted about 2,000 kilometers east of Visayas-Mindanao region is forecast to enter PAR this Thursday.

The LPA could bring rains to parts of Visayas, including Leyte province where Pope Francis is set to visit on Saturday, January 17, to meet with the victims of super typhoon ”Yolanda”.

Javier said that the state weather bureau is looking at three possible scenarios for the LPA.

He said that  the LPA could intensify and hit the Philippine landmass or re-curve north due to a high pressure area.

Javier said the LPA could also dissipate before even making landfall due to the northeast monsoon.
