'Pastillas Girl' boosts 'Showtime' ratings

Social media sensation “Pastillas Girl” is proving to be a lucky charm for the noontime show “It’s Showtime.”

According to data released by Kantar Media, the September 15 episode of “It’s Showtime” garnered 18.2% in national TV ratings, as it closed in on rival “Eat Bulaga,” which scored 20.6%.

This was a significant jump from the day before, September 14, when “It’s Showtime” scored 14.1% while “Eat Bulaga” has 20%.

Officially dubbed “Nasaan Ka, Mr. Pastillas,” the segment started when Vice Ganda offered to help to Angelica Jane Yap, popularly know has “Pastillas Girl,” in her quest to find the love of her life. The segment takes pride on its unscripted nature, which instantly appealed to TV audiences and netizens.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN primetime programs remained the most-watched television shows during the start of the week.

Prime time series “Nathaniel” and “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” took the first and second slots, respectively. The country’s leading news program “TV Patrol” was in third place, followed by TV series “Pasion de Amor” and “On the Wings of Love.”

On Monday, “Pasion de Amor” hit a new all-time high national TV rating of 25.5%, or more than double that of its rival program “Starstruck” (11.7%)
