Celine Dion cancels Manila concert

August 14, 2014 Showbiz News

Canadian pop superstar Celine Dion is canceling her Asian tour, which includes a November 29 concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena to focus on her family.

A report posted in her website said the five-time Grammy winner wants to give “100% of her attention on her husband Rene, their family, and associated health issues.”

The report added that the couple has been through a “very difficult and stressful time” fighting the Rene’s illness (he underwent surgery last December to remove a cancerous tumor), maintaining their showbiz commitments and raising three young children.

Throat inflammation

Celine herself is not in the pink of health. She has yet to recover from an illness that caused inflammation in her throat and was unable to perform since her last show in Las Vegas on July 29.

“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.” Celine said in her website.

A report on Philippine Daily Inquirer said Solaire Hotel and Casino was rushing the construction of its performing arts theater in November because it wanted Celine to be the first to perform in the new venue.
