Lea Salonga: ‘Yung mga DJ (Daniel’s nickname) na iyan, wala, sorry.’

July 27, 2014 Showbiz News

Daniel Padilla’s fans were not pleased over Lea Salonga’s comments about the teen heartthrob on “The Voice Kids” last Saturday, July 26, the first night of the finale.

Lea praised Top 4 finalist Juan Karlos Labajo for his performance of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby” and compared him to Daniel.

“I’m actually looking at you as a 13-year-old and seeing what you’re going to be like five years from now. Yung mga DJ (Daniel’s nickname) na iyan, wala, sorry. Their names are going to be erased once you get to that age. Because yung charm mo talagang nagamit sa number na ito. Your coach picked a right song for you,” Lea told Juan Karlos.

No disrespect

Realizing she has offended Daniel’s fans, Lea took to Twitter to apologize.

“Ohhh dear… I offer my deepest apologies to Daniel P and his fans. In building up JK (Juan Karlos), I

neglected to think that I might hurt other people.”

The Broadway singer-actress clarified that she did not mean to offend.

“I meant no disrespect, but I humbly ask for forgiveness if that’s how it came across. Sana mapatawad po ninyo ako sa aking pagkakamali.”

“The Voice Kids” finale airs tonight, July 27, on ABS-CBN. Lyca Gairanod and Darren Espanto from Team Sarah and Darlene Vibares from Team Lea complete the top 4 finalists.
