TV and theater actress Ciara Sotto doesn’t mind having morning sickness at night, now that she’s expecting her first child by husband of four years Jojo Oconer.
The baby is a blessing she thinks she doesn’t deserve.
“I know I don’t deserve this blessing coz I haven’t really taken care of myself… I’m always working out,” she told Yahoo Philippines at the gala screening of Carlos Siguion-Reyna’s “Hari ng Tondo” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines recently. Ciara plays Saling, a battered girlfriend, in the Cinemalaya film which is part of the Directors Showcase section.
The 34-year-old daughter of Sen. Tito Sotto and actress Helen Gamboa must be referring to her active lifestyle, which includes pole fitness (pole dancing). She’s too invested in the activity and is now a practicing teacher of the said workout.
She added, “And then God gave me this gift. Perfect timing from God talaga. It’s a blessing.”
Ciara and her husband, an executive at TAPE Inc. (producer of “Eat Bulaga!”), deferred parenthood so they could spend more time together as a couple. They decided to have a baby only last year.
Now that she’s on her 11th week of pregnancy, Ciara is having a hard time coping with her condition.
“Sometimes I’m really dizzy all the time. Sometimes I vomit for no reason, but the point that I hate the most is I can smell everything.”
Praying for a girl
Good thing she can rely on her husband who easily gives in to her demands even in the dead of the night.
“He’s been very supportive and patient with me and my raging hormones.”
And now that they’re still guessing what their baby’s gender is, Ciara said she and her husband are praying that their firstborn is a girl.
“Were praying kasi ang dami kong pamangkin na boys, isa lang ‘yung niece ko. ‘Yung niece ko sobrang favorite ko siya so gusto ko ng sarili kong ganun.”
