Enchong Dee can now tick off his dream of becoming a singer in his bucket list.

The Kapamilya star recently launched his self-titled six-track album under Star Records, which includes “Hanggang Dito na Lang,” “Seloso,” “Tambalang OMG,” his remake of VST & Co.’s song “Step No, Step Yes” and the carrier single “Chinito Problems.”

Pero matagal ko na siyang gustong mangyari,” Enchong told reporters at the press conference of his new album in Don Henrico’s restaurant in Quezon City on Thursday, October 16.

Confidence

While Enchong became known for his acting, he revealed that he actually loves singing more. The sport he was first known for, swimming, also helps him improve his voice. Pero mas nauna lang yung iba,” he said.

Enchong feels very confident about his foray. He would like to have a tour nationwide and also promote his album overseas.

He also recalled going to the house of “Eat Bulaga” host Joey de Leon, who wrote a song he covered, VST & Co.’s “Step No, Step Yes.”

“Mineet namin si Tito Joey de Leon para magbigay-pugay lang at magpasalamat, kasi nga pinayagan niya kami i-modernize yung ‘Step No, Step Yes,’” he said.

Sabi niya, ‘Sige, okay iyan.’ Kasi yung ginawa ng VST & Company, 70s pa, so we modernized it pero andoon pa din yung feel niya.”

True to himself

Enchong also says he remained to true to himself in his mini album, which contains upbeat songs.

“Hindi ako nagpapaka-Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera. Hindi ako nagpapaka-rapper,” he said.

“It’s all the songs na gusto kong gawin….
