[WATCH] Michael Martinez bags 1st place in Asian Figure Skating

Filipino Olympian skater Michael Christian Martinez won first place in the Asian Open Figure Skating competition held in Bangkok, Thailand from August 5 to 8, GMA News’ Unang Balita reported Monday.

Martinez, with a score of 188.53, topped the Senior Men’s category participated in by eight other skaters from Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and India.

Second place went to Keiji Tanaka of Japan, who had a score of 182.70.

Hiroaki Sato, also of Japan, placed third with a score of 145.89.

Martinez, who was raised in suburban Muntinlupa, was the only Filipino Olympian in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
