[REPORT] DOH: Philippines has 29 new HIV cases daily



The Department of Health is alarmed by the increasing number of Filipinos testing positive for HIV, with 29 new cases recorded every day.

In an interview, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said many of those infected with HIV are young people.

“It’s men having sex with men…About 82 percent (of cases). And 15-24 years old. Our cases getting younger. It used to be around 30-40 years old,” she said.

She said the Philippines must have a cultural change in terms of discussing sex and sexual orientation.
