Former President and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will ask the Sandiganbayan for a nine-day furlough—or break from being under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City—following the death of her youngest grandson on Sunday, November 2.
The child, Jorge Alonso, was the youngest son of Arroyo’s daughter, Luli Arroyo-Bernas. He was said to have suffered from a congenital heart problem and was just over a year old. He died at around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Philippine Heart Center.
Atty. Larry Gadon, a family friend and legal adviser of the former President, said the motion will be filed on Monday, November 3 by Atty. Lawrence Arroyo.
Gadon added that the little boy’s wake will be held at the Bernas house in Makati.
