July 30, 2014 Philippine Local News

Weather bureau PAGASA has confirmed the low pressure area (LPA) 870 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.7°N, 131.0°E) has developed into a  tropical depression and was named ‘Inday.’

‘Inday’ has a maximum sustained winds of 55 kph.

No public storm warning signal has been raised due to the weather disturbance.

‘Inday’ is the ninth named disturbance for 2014. It is also enhancing monsoon activity, but PAGASA says that ‘Inday’ is not forecast to make landfall as it heads to the northwest at approximately 15 kph.

Parts of Isabela, Ifugao, Benguet, Zambales, CALABARZON, Mindoro, and the Bicol region will experience occasional rain. For the Visayas, episodes of light rain are forecast in Dolores, Catbalogan and Calbayog, Samar, Ormoc, Leyte, Bacolod, Iloilo and Antique, with the rest of the central islands, including Boracay, having partly cloudy skies with isolated showers.

The celebration of Eid’l Fitr comes with mostly fair conditons down south, except for the southwesterly windflow encouraging showers in the Zamboanga Peninsula. Mati City, meantime, can expect light to occasional moderate rain.

PAGASA still has a gale warning raised as strong to gale force winds are expected to affect the western seaboard of Southern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.

For the rest of our coasts, light to moderate winds bring slight to moderate seas.

Metro Manila has a chance for a slight drizzle and can expect a drizzle to light rain for the next two days, with temperature highs to average at around 30 degrees Celcius today and tomorrow, and will get slightly cooler by Thursday.

The general public and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to be alert and to monitor for the updates to be incorporated in the public weather forecast at 11 p.m. tonight.
