Marc Sueselbeck leaves PH, plans to file petition so he can come back

Marc Sueselbeck, the German fiance of slain transgender woman Jennifer Laude, finally left the Philippines on Saturday, November 1, after an emotionally charged two weeks of staying here.

Farewell message

Speaking to reporters before boarding his flight, Sueselbeck asked for forgiveness over his actions.

“If any Philippine person felt disrespected with what I did, I first want to apologize to all Philippine people. I always respected you. I want to say sorry to you all,” Sueselbeck said.

He added, “Thank you that you allow me to leave. It was my intention already last week. But you know I think you did show up the point that you wanted to mention that no one gets away with it. I think I didn’t get away with it.”

Sueselbeck’s China Airlines flight left at 4:45 p.m. for Taiwan, where he was expected to take a connecting flight back to Germany.

Camp Aguinaldo smackdown

The German grabbed the headlines after he and Laude’s sister, Marilou, scaled the perimeter fence inside Camp Aguinaldo in an attempt to get near the suspect in Laude’s killing, US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton.

In the interview with reporters, Sueselbeck said he was not initially aware of the political implications of Laude’s death.

“I wasn’t aware of the political issue that is behind us. I thought it was really about the brutal, unbelievable crime that has happened. It was about the person we all love. I wasn’t aware of the political part of it, and I’m apologizing. As someone who comes from outside, I probably should not have taken part in that,” he said.

Banned from the Philippines

Sueselbeck was prevented from leaving the country last Sunday to face deportation proceedings for being an undesirable alien.

The Bureau of Immigration said the German was prevented from leaving the Philippines so he would have the chance to face deportation proceedings and fight his inclusion on the Philippine blacklist.

In order to speed up the deportation proceedings, Sueselbeck filed for voluntary deportation with the BI. As a result, the German is now barred from entering the Philippines.

Sueselbeck’s legal counsel said a petition will be filed against the order, as the German promised to return here and visit the grave of his fiance.
