Vehicle with explosives discovered at NAIA 3

A vehicle loaded with an undetermined number of explosives was discovered at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3 (NAIA 3) on Monday.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said a white Toyota Revo with plate numer WMK 129 was intercepted at the NAIA Terminal 3 parking lot B loaded with components of explosives at around 1:45 a.m.

Four suspects were arrested by elements of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during simultaneous operations in Makati and the vicinity of SM Mall of Asia.

Another report, meanwhile, said only 3 suspects were arrested.

Airport sources said the suspects were apprehended while they were assembling the explosives inside the vehicle parked at the NAIA 3 open parking lot.

Gen. Vicente Guerzon, MIAA senior assistant general manager, placed the entire NAIA complex in full alert.

Guerzon immediately called for an emergency meeting with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, Office for Transportation Security (OTS), and local PNP from Pasay and Parañaque cities.
