‘Vongfong’ expected to enter PH

A typhoon with the international name, “Vongfong,” is expected to enter the Philippine  Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. It has maximum winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the typhoon will called “Ompong” once it enters PAR.

“Vongfong” may enter PAR through Northern Luzon and is forecast to move west northwest at 25 kph.

The typhoon is not expected to make landfall. Its forecast track also shows that it will be moving away from the country immediately, much like Typhoon “Neneng.”

The typhoon is expected to move out of PAR by Friday or Saturday.

Palawan, Western Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The Provinces of Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest to west over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas.
