[REPOST] Voters’ registration for barangay, SK polls to start July 15

The registration of voters for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections will be held on the last two weeks of July, an poll official said Sunday.

Comelec Commissioner Luie Guia said the registration will be from July 15 to 31.

In 2013, the voters’ registration for the Barangay and SK elections was held from July 22 to 31.

More than two million voters registered for the barangay elections and more than 3.1 million registered for the SK elections.

The barangay and SK elections will be held on October 31.

Guia also announced that the filing of opposition to the application for registrations will be entertained by the poll body from August 1 to 15.

Comelec chief Andres Bautista had suggested the postponement of the barangay and SK elections, citing “election fatigue” of Filipino voters because of the May 9 general elections.
