Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) continued to suffer falling profit in the third quarter, but remains bullish as it spent P43 billion this year–a historic high for the group.

Warren de Guzman reports that it’s not threatened with the possibility of new competition, saying it’s well positioned in the market.

Earlier, Grace Aller, a research analyst at Angping & Associates, said a third player entering the Philippine telecommunications market may disrupt the duopoly of Globe and PLDT, but it may also mean better services for consumers.
