Samsung PH unveils Galaxy A7, A5, A3 full-metal phones

January 11, 2015 Technology

Samsung’s smartphones have always been known as plastic-fantastic amalgamations of technology. No more. The Korean company has officially taken the wraps off its new A series of devices in the Philippines—and the lineup makes use of full-metal unibodies.

Samsung has been tentatively dipping their toes in creating smartphones that feature metal in their design, starting with the Galaxy Alpha and then the Galaxy Note 4. However, the Samsung Galaxy A series, which is made up of the A3, A5, and A7, represents a radical shift in design for the Korean manufacturer.

The dual-SIM, LTE-capable Samsung Galaxy A7 is the biggest and most decked-out of the bunch, with a 5.5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 5433 processor, and a 12-megapixel rear camera on board.

You can increase the size of the 16GB internal storage by using a microSD card, though you can’t have an extra SIM and a microSD card installed at the same time.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 are both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor and have LTE, though both are single-SIM affairs.

The Galaxy A5 has a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The Galaxy A3, on the other hand, is the runt of the litter, sporting a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The Galaxy A7, A5, and A3 should be hitting stores as early as the latter half of January for P24,990, P19,990, and P16,990 respectively.
