It’s over between ‘I Do’ couple Karen Bordador and Chris Tan

It’s over between former “I Do” contestants Karen Bordador and Chris Tan, who announced their breakup on social media.

Karen and Chris made it to the top 3 of ABS-CBN’s reality show for couples. But days before the finale last November, Karen and Chris backed out from the show.

Fil-Korean couple Kring Elenzano and Kimmy Kim won the grand prize.

4 amazing years

“Hindi naman sa pinag-awayan, sa I Do village marami kaming natutunan in our relationship. Yung purpose namin in joining was really to learn more about each other. Ang goal namin was to win the grand wedding, of course. Throughout the journey, we realized madami pa kaming dapat ayusin. Hindi naman sa madami, konti na lang siya, pero very important,” Chris previously said in “Umagang Kay Ganda.”

Two months after the show wrapped up, Karen and Chris announced on Instagram that they have broken up.

“I feel it’s just right I let you all know that we are no longer together. It’s been 4 amazing years. I didn’t expect this to happen but it did,” Karen posted.

The radio jock-model added that she tried hard to make the relationship work.

Officially single

“Never stay cause it’s sayang. I’ve exhausted myself trying to work things out but we just have to accept that good things may have an end too. What a journey.”

Karen, who also announced that she’s “officially single,” looks forward to focusing on her goals more.

“Staring 2015 fresh! Hopeful and excited to fulfill all my dreams. Will focus on my career! So I’m alright. Time to be awesome and just be grateful. This girl is on fire! Thank you everyone for understanding! New Year New Me: I’m officially single.”

Despite their split, Chris has good words for Karen, who is 19 years her junior.

Love and joy

“Karen and I have agreed to part ways and move forward separately. Karen is a beautiful amazing individual that is full of love and joy. She deserves the best that life has to offer,” Chris posted.

Although the ex-couple did not give the exact reason for their split.

“This decision was very difficult and sad for both of us; ultimately, it was a decision based on love and respect for one another. I am asking for everyone’s understanding, support, and respect for our decision,” Cris posted.

He thanked Karen for the amazing memories their relationship gave him.

“Karen, thank you for a wonderful, fun, loving, and adventurous 4 years. I have learned so much from you and I will cherish this forever.”
