Derek’s estranged wife wants P42 million for child, spouse support

September 6, 2014 Showbiz News

Mary Christine Jolly, the estranged wife of actor Derek Ramsay, is asking for P42 million in damages as she filed a complaint against the actor for violating Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

Jolly denied rumors saying that she is still in love with Ramsay, stressing that she only wants the actor to be back in their 11-year-old son’s life.

She reiterated that she just wants the money for child and spouse support.

“There’s no love. He’s destroyed all that. It’s been 11 years. It’s destroyed, there’s nothing left to give,” she said.

“I want him back in Austin’s life, my son’s life. I want him back only in my son’s life,” she added.

In a previous statement, Ramsay said he only confirmed that Jolly’s son was also his in August 2011.

Explaining why he did not reveal that he has a son at the time, Ramsay said: “I wanted to know my son first and keep my relationship with him private. He was just an eight-year-old boy then and he would not be able to comprehend the possible media curiosity about him, especially since he was then new to the country and about to pursue his education here.”

“Given the circumstances between Mary and I, which is far from ideal, I had to protect [my son] first,” added Ramsay, who joined showbiz as early as 2005.

Ramsay’s camp has said the actor will address Jolly’s accusations in court.

In other reports, the actor has claimed that he had been “a battered husband” and that he was worried that the money he sent for the care of his son wasn’t really going to the boy.
