When former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao married Ardy Roberto Jr. early last year, she didn’t only gain a husband. She became an instant mom to the businessman-author’s 7-year-old son Joshua.
“I’m really blessed because I’ve been given a second chance in my love life. At ngayon, I’m so happy because finally I married God’s chosen best for me and now meron kaming 7-year-old son,” she told Yahoo Philippines on Tuesday, January 6, at the launch of GMA’s primetime series “Second Chances.”
It’s their second marriage. Miriam divorced former husband Claudio Rondinelli whom she married in 2004, while Ardy’s wife passed away two years ago.
The 37-year-old TV host-actress admits she’s no perfect wife. Luckily, she found her match and a perfect husband.
“There are times when I fall short of being a wife, but he’s so understanding. And he’s willing to give me time and bridge the gap so I can adjust.”
Instant mommy
Miriam said she’s fortunate because Joshua is “a good and obedient child.”
“But of course there are times, like other kids, kailangan pagsabihan. Kailangan lang siya bigyan ng panahon, explain to him why ginagawa mo ‘yung mga bagay-bagay.”
The “Second Chances” star, however, clarified that she’s not trying replace his mom.
“I’d like to also honor the mom by allowing him to keep her memories alive. But now that I am his new mom, naging challenge sa ’kin na magkaroon ng anak na hindi lumabas sa katawan ko.”
Adjustment period
Aside from prayers, Miriam appreciates how helpful books are when it comes to being a good wife and mother.
“Ngayon nagbabasa rin ako ng books on parenting, like I read this book over the holidays, What A Son Needs From His Mom (by Cheri Fuller).”
She continued, “I’m so blessed because sa panahon ngayon, lahat ng available books about parenting, marriage, relationships are already available. Natutulungan ako to be equipped, and to become a better mom.”
Miriam said she and Ardy have been working on their own baby, but believes it will come in God’s perfect time.
