The Korean superstar’s first leading role on the big screen entitled “Gangnam 1970” finally released its trailer on YouTube last week. The 56-minute trailer featured Freddie Aguilar’s OPM classic “Anak”.

“Gangnam Blue” was the original title of this movie, but later renamed to better reflect the time and setting for the realistic period drama.

According to ABS-CBNnews.com, the movie has been described as a “gangster noir” set in the 1970s, when Seoul’s Gangnam district was still under development and political powers and darker organizations collide as they seek to grab control of the influential and exclusive area.

The plot, according to Wikipedia, involves the friendship of two childhood friends (Min-ho’s character Kim Jong-dae and Kim Rae-won’s character Yong-ki) that is tested as they find themselves entangled in the collusion and battles between political powers and criminal organizations.

Kim Rae-won is best known in the Philippines for his leading roles in Koreanovelas like Attic Cat, Love Story in Harvard and Gourmet.

This film will be released in Korea on November 27, but no further detail if it will yet to be showed in Philippines cinemas.
