A TV host of ABS-CBN morning show in Cagayan de Oro became a hot topic in the nursing community online for using #lazynurses tag while ranting about their stay in the hospital.
Nicole Abas Datayan, host of Pamahaw Espesyal, vent her frustrations on Facebook about the ‘negligence’ of doctors and nurses in attending to her niece who was admitted for high fever.
So. My niece LAIKA, who is to me like my daughter, was admitted for high grade fever yesterday. 24 hours later, no doctor has come to see her. Every time we ask, the nurses tell us, “Don’t worry, we’re texting with the him”. DON’T WORRY??! I don’t know this doctor assigned to her by the ER, but I DO know that he’s supposed to see her! We didn’t have a choice with this one because her Pedia was out of town.
And the hospital had the balls to tell us we can’t transfer her to another hospital until we have that doctor’s referral. WHAT DOCTOR??! we haven’t seen his ass, and Laika fever wasn’t getting any better!
HOOOOMAAAIGED.”
In one of the comments on the post, Datayan also complained about nurses in the hospital not performing sponge bath to her niece.
“We kept getting passed back and forth. Pagka wai Batasan gyud. Kami pa gyud ang ipa sponge bath to bring the fever down. #thumbsup #lazynurses”
To add insult to injury, one commenter added that all good nurses have left the country, leaving ‘crappy…professional leftovers’ behind.
“All the good nurses left the Philippines na! I don’t know why the country is encouraging people to leave the country and kita mismo have to suffer with crappy so called professionals leftovers here. Ang mga doctor pud nga maayo kai nag nurse na para maka adto sa gawas! WTF!”
The comments drew mixed reactions, and Filipino nurses all over the world were quick to defend their colleagues and bashed the TV host in social media.
The original post and #lazynurses tag are now trending, with over a thousand comments and hundreds of shares.
