[WATCH] Joey Ayala’s ‘new take’ on national anthem draws 1M views!

A video featuring singer Joey Ayala putting a fresh spin on the Philippine national anthem has been viewed more than a million times as of Saturday.

The video reached the milestone after originally being uploaded last November.

It is a recording of Ayala’s performance at TEDxDiliman last October. The event,     featuring a series of talks with the theme “Things That Matter,” was held at the University of the Philippines School of Economics.

Ayala’s performance drew strong reactions from the live audience and online viewers, as Ayala argued that the Philippine national anthem should be sung like the more traditional kundiman. He also made suggestions about lyric changes for the song.
